Interior Trends Being Driven by the Individual – Not The Trade

Margaret Hirsch, Executive Director of the Hirsch’s Homestores Group holds a monthly virtual Property Workshop with viewers logging in from around the country to listen in on Zoom and FB Live.

Under discussion at the most recent Property Club, talk was the latest Trends in Interiors. Margaret’s Guest Speaker was another Margaret, Margaret Westerhof, Founder of Margaret Rose Interiors in Ballito.

Margaret, – known as Mags – cut short her career as a radio DJ to start her business and said that despite the challenges that she experienced during Lockdown the business was going well. “It was interesting being thrown into the deep end and discussing turning home spaces into work spaces with clients. That has definitely been the most popular trend over the last 12 months,” she said. She also pointed out that trends are no longer driven by the trade but by the individual. “With people spending more and more time at home, it’s become crucial for them to be totally comfortable in their home space and what is trending globally is no longer the driver. Today it’s all about Acoustics, Functionality and Eliminating Anxiety!” She said. “Sometimes you just need to take a chance with something that stands out and puts out a message that you want to convey for a particular space.”

Join Margaret Hirsch on September 30 when her guest will be Matt Bouwer from Wanderlust who will be talking about the Tiny Homes trend. Contact Shane on shane@hirschs.co.za for the Link.
